The Whitby & District Sledge Hockey Association was founded in 1996 by Kathryn Bremner. That first season a handfull of players were introduced to hockey for the very first time in their lives. We had other organizations lend us equipment and off we went. The thrill of watching all those smiles on the ice made it all worth it. Thanks to Kathryn the Whitby Steel Hawks quickly became a fun and competitive sport club. The first in Ontario's Durham Region. We play a minimum of 9 league games a year and one International Tournament at the end of the season. Our team has grown to two teams, a Junior team and an Intermediate team. We started off with 4 volunteers to run the club and we now have over 10 not including all the parents that help out at the practices and events. |
